DETAILS | Enjoy an exclusive opportunity to walk through one of St. Charles’ oldest cemeteries on a cool autumn day. Learn the stories of local legends and heroes who found their final resting place in St. Charles. At selected grave sites, guests will “encounter” a community figure and listen as they tell a short monologue about their lives, their joys, their sorrows and their loves. Ages 15 & younger must be accompanied by a paying adult.

DETAILS | Escape the Mansion is an escape room-style event that pits groups of 10 people against the clock to see if they can solve a series of challenges, clues, hidden passwords, and more before time runs out. For one night only, the second floor of the Stephen Persinger Recreation Center is transformed into the fictitious Madam Klara’s Mansion, an estate built in 1799 which as been rumored to be haunted and filled with dark magic. Participants will be given a tour of the mansion, featuring a newly discovered room of the building! Come explore the mansion’s intriguing infirmary, where Madame Klara’s personal doctor and surgeon, Dr. Ingrid, performed mysterious procedures and operations.

DETAILS | We’re baaack! Explore our woods to experience what goes bump in the night at Red Oak. Sit by the campfire and listen to tales told by one of our infamous residents or choose to hike one of our self-guided spirit trails where you never know who or what you’ll bump into. Ghouls are encouraged to shake the goosebumps off inside the nature center where they can warm up with a craft, music and candy. Activities are self-guided and outside; due to thematic elements children younger than 8 are encouraged to stay in the nature center for crafts, music, and games. Flashlights are strongly encouraged. Pre-registration ends Friday the 21st. Day of ticket sales will be available for $20 per person.

DETAILS |  For 9 years, the Zombie Defense Initiative has given citizens an experience that they could find nowhere else. For the past 2 years, the safest zone was at home. This year, more than ever, we need to have a happening that will unite citizens looking for escape. ​ Some of the businesses might appear to be boarded up, vegetation may reclaim buildings, trash may be strewn everywhere, burning tires and barrels of toxic waste may litter the streets. Abandoned cars, buses and even airplanes have known to be damaged and overturned in the streets and on top of buildings. Do not fear! Your safety is our number one concern. Some steadfast businesses will be open for you to get food, beverages, shelter, and provisions. ​ We at the Zombie Defense Initiative will make sure that every citizen is entertained with three stages of live entertainment, bands, food, drinks, vendors, cage matches in the Thunderdome, live graffiti artists, a hookah lounge, costume contest, special guests like MeTV’s SVENGOOLIE and surprises around every corner. ​ To maintain some sort of economic health, we are asking for a nominal entrance fee to Nightmare on Chicago Street.
